A happy couple vote in the divorce referendum on the day of their wedding

The 24 November 1995 was not just a day for divorce but also a day for marriage as Brian Brogan and Caroline Reddy became husband and wife.

Before making their way down the aisle however they both took time to exercise their rights and cast their votes in the divorce referendum. On route to the church, Caroline Reddy drops by the polling station. Long before the government had decided on a date for the referendum, Caroline and Brian had set the date for their marriage.

The Divorce Referendum took place in Ireland on 24 November 1995 and was passed by a margin of 50.28% to 49.72%.
