Proposal for a new seven million pound marina at Dun Laoghaire harbour unveiled.

The plans for the development involve the demolition of the existing structure on the mail boat pier and its replacement with a promenade lined with bars, restaurants, shops, a heritage centre and a lifeboat base. The pier is to be redeveloped as a public leisure amenity. The development plans include a 300-berth marina which will be rented out at a cost of £1,000 per year.

A model of the proposed marina development shows the plans for the Carlisle Pier.

Brian Barry of the National Yacht Club and Betty Coffey of Dun Laoghaire Corporation outline plans.

It is hoped that the project will be completed by 1993.
