On 16 October 2004 the first episode of 'Tubridy Tonight' was broadcast on RTÉ One television.

The show opens with a live introduction by resident house band - Clint Velour and The Camembert Quartet, who introduce the host Ryan Tubridy.

Ryan introduces the first guests to appear on the show as “the loveliest sister-act since The Corrs” – Grainne and Síle Seoige. At the time Gráinne was a news anchor for Sky News Ireland and Síle presented the show ‘Seachtain’ on TG4.

Other guests on the first show included Hector Ó’Heochagáin, Royston Brady and musical guests ‘The Beautiful South’.

In 2009 'Tubridy Tonight' came to an end and RTÉ announced that Ryan Tubridy would replace Pat Kenny as the host of 'The Late Late Show'.
