Joan Littlewood recalls receiving a script for 'The Quare Fellow' in the post, Behan's first visit to her theatre in London, and how she and Behan became friends and collaborators.
English theatre director and producer Joan Littlewood describes how she got the script for the 'The Quare Fellow' and finally met Brendan Behan. She recalls how Behan on seeing Act 1 of the play for the first time in the Theatre Workshop laughed and said,
Ah be Christ I am a fucking genius.
'Brendan Behan - The Writer, The Rebel, And The Rollicking Boy' was a documentary compiled and presented by Anthony Cronin to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Behan.
The programme was broadcast on the 24 March 1974.
