Full house at Slane Castle to see Robbie Williams.

Ahead of the concert with an expected attendance of 80,000, people have been arriving in Slane over the past few days. Among those in attendance are the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Dr Mo Mowlam, U2 guitarist The Edge, politician Liz O'Donnell, comedian Patrick Kielty, model and presenter Amanda Byram, and singer Mary Black.

The concert is the culmination of months of preparation for Lord Henry Mountcharles, owner of Slane Castle. He is optimistic it will be a safe and fun festival.

Security at the event was strict. Members of the Garda sub-aqua unit patrolling the River Boyne as well as special Garda units inside and outside the venue.

The Gardaí say the crowd have been well-behaved and good-humoured.

The music kicked off at midday with a bill featuring Simon Carmody, David Gray, Gomez, Placebo, Happy Mondays, Stereophonics, and the star of the show Robbie Williams.
