Mayo woman Mary Mulroy celebrates her 100th birthday with a Station Mass and a party.

Mary Mulroy of Coolkeevane, Straide in County Mayo celebrates her 100th birthday at her thatched home. She is joined by 70 of her relations and neighbours. Canon John Wyms, parish priest of Straide celebrates Mass which is followed by a party. There are many cards, a birthday cake and Canon Wyms presents Mary Mulroy with the President's cheque for £50.

Mary Mulroy was born three years before the Land League was founded in 1879 and has vivid memories of attending rallies addressed by its founder Michael Davitt. She has been a teetotaller all her life, never smoked and attributes her long life to,
