Drama societies from third level colleges are in Cork for the Irish Students' Drama Association Festival.
Running from 25 February to 1 March, colleges from all over the island of Ireland have been taking part in the annual Irish Students' Drama Association Festival held this year in Cork city.
The festival is open to the public, and audiences can look forward to a wide selection of plays, some of which will be performed in the Ivernia Theatre on Grand Parade, home of the Cork Theatre Company.
The festival publicity officer Deirdre O’Callaghan says this is a student event like no other. She encourages anyone interested in theatre to attend, as,
We've a wealth of plays going on.
After each performance the audience are invited to take part in a discussion about the production with the directors and actors. This is of benefit to the whole company, says festival director Mark Carruthers from Queen’s University Belfast. The festival provides students from all over Ireland with an overview of what their sister colleges are doing and the chance to meet others with an interest in theatre production.
