Singing star Margo is presented with a Gold Disc for record sales in excess of 250,000.

Margo (Margaret O’Donnell) was born in 1951 in Kincasslagh, County Donegal. She has been singing in cabaret since she was four years old. Now aged 24, Margo has been awarded a Gold Disc for album sales of more than 250,000 records and cassettes.

On 17 December 1975, Larry Cunningham, Margo and the New Country Blueboys played a concert at the Fiesta Ballroom in Letterkenny. During this show, Margo received the Gold Disc at a special presentation ceremony.

The managing director of her record company, Michael Clarkin, paid tribute to the girl from The Rosses, the only Donegal entertainer to have gained this distinction.

The event was attended by Margo’s mother, Julia O'Donnell. Some cousins flew in from the United States especially for the occasion.

In December 1975, Larry Cunningham and Margo released the single 'Hello Mr Peters' on Release Records.
