The family of the late Ian Paisley are making his private collection of books available to the public.

The Bannside Library in Belfast has been named in recognition of the title he used when he became a member of the House of Lords.

Ian Paisley was one of Ireland's most controversial figures in recent history. His slow journey from troublemaker to peacemaker was an extraordinary story.

Ian Paisley died on 12 September 2014. Now his family are opening a library dedicated to him, demonstrating his fascination with books. His widow, Eileen Paisley, hopes the collection of 60,000 books will bring people from all walks of life together.

These books were Ian's friends.

Sections of the libary are called after different pets owned by the Paisleys. Among the collection are books about Catholicism and Irish history as well as 300 bibles.

Eileen Paisley says her husband's relationship with Martin McGuinness of Sinn Féin became important to him and his family.
