Republican Party looks for support in Virginia for Donald Trump in the US presidential election
On the first day of the Republican National Convention, held at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina, United States President Donald Trump is nominated as the Republican presidential candidate for the 2020 election.
In the neighbouring state of Virginia, the Republican Party is out in force registering voters at a gun show. Donald Trump supporter Lance Thomas has just registered to vote for the first time.
I haven't voted ever.
His motivation is twofold, to keep Donal Trump in power and to keep the Democratic Party out.
Also at the gun show is Donald Trump supporter Heidi Singhas who approves of the current US president's bluntness.
He doesn't care about anybody's feelings.
While Donald Trump's critics maintain he is not always truthful, Heidi Singhas believes he is an honest politician.
He's brutally honest, and that's why they don't like him.
It is expected that the topic of gun rights will feature prominently at the Republican National Convention, which runs from 24 to 27 August 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event is staged in the Charlotte Convention Center (day 1), the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium in Washington DC (days 1–4), and various locations remotely (days 1–4).
