Motorcyclists ride through Dublin city centre to protest at the high cost of running their bikes.
Around 3,000 bikers assembled for a demonstration this afternoon, which commenced at the Wellington Monument in the Phoenix Park. Organised by the Motorcycle Clubs of Ireland with the support of the country's motorbike importers, the protest was to highlight the rates of tax and increased insurance costs borne by owners.
Regular traffic was halted as the bikers drove through the city centre to the Department of Industry and Commerce, where a petition was due to be handed in. Should this call go unanswered, they have pledged that further protests will take place.
