A sculpture of Rory Gallagher is unveiled in Ballyshannon the town of his birth.
Fifteen years following the death of Rory Gallagher, a bronze statue is unveiled in Ballyshannon to pay tribute to the musician who for many is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Born in Ballyshannon in 1948, the town pays tribute to the rock musician for the ninth year in a row with the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival.
A larger than life size bronze statue of Rory in full flow is unveiled.
Donal Gallagher is ecstatic with the statue which captures his brother in action. Sculptor David Annand used hundreds of photographs from the Rory Gallagher archive to create the bronze sculpture. Long time fan Steven Loughney praises the statue which he says has a fabulous likeness to the real man. Barry O'Neill of the committee who organised the tribute says that it was important to have the statue of Rory Gallagher in the town of his birth.
The sculpture was commissioned by Donegal County Council Public Office.
