In advance of her show in Dublin's Grand Canal Theatre on 23 June 2010, singer, songwriter and actor Marianne Faithfull performs 'The Ballad of Lucy Jordan' backed by 'The Late Late Show’ house band.
The poignant song by American poet and songwriter Shel Silverstein was released by Dr Hook and the Medicine Show in 1975 as 'The Ballad of Lucy Jordon'.
'The Ballad of Lucy Jordan' was the first single from Marianne Faithfull’s landmark album ‘Broken English’,
Considered by many to be a modern classic.
The single and LP were released simultaneously in October 1979.
