Amateur groups bring their theatre productions to the drama festival at Ballyshannon in County Donegal.

The 24th Ballyshannon Drama Festival was opened by Joan Walsh, secretary of the All Ireland Drama Council. Chairman of the festival Fr Patrick Gallagher introduced the opening proceedings.

The opening play of the festival was 'Da' by Hugh Leonard performed by The 71 Players from Derry. The audience included the Bishop of Derry Dr Daly.

The festival runs from 20 to 23 March.
