Bad news for many drivers as seventy nine per cent of cars have failed the National Car Test.
More than half of the vehicles that fail the NCT test have faulty brakes, and up to thirty per cent have unacceptable exhaust emissions.
The National Car Testing Service has said that while these numbers were not unexpected, they predict that more cars will pass the NCT as Irish motorists become more accustomed to the test requirements.
