The patience of Mrs O'Mahony put to the test when visitors from America arrive unannounced.

An American played by Mike Murphy and his wife Harriet show up at Mrs O'Mahony's front door for a cultural exchange. The rent a van driver played by Dermot Morgan has unloaded their luggage on her doorstep. He informs Mrs O'Mahony that he will need to take the horse out of his van soon as it has been there since they left the airport.

No way will you bring in the horse.

An outraged Mrs O'Mahony demands to know who set up this cultural exchange. She has never heard of Mr Collins and his agency on Dawson Street in Dublin and is clear that nobody will pass her threshold.

No fear will you make yourself at home because this is completely wrong.

The American visitor is confused by this hostile version of Irish hospitality. He is under the impression Mrs O'Mahony would be staying at his ranch,

I'm not going to the States and I'm not going anywhere.

Without a place to stay, the American wonders aloud,

What are we going to do when the children arrive in the cab?

As a compromise, the American suggests they can all sleep in Mrs O'Mahony's front garden. Her porch can be modified as a stable for the horse.

An increasingly irritated Mrs O'Mahony is eventually put out of her misery when the American reveals his true identity,

My name is Mike Murphy from RTÉ.
