Opera continues to bring so much to the town of Wexford.
The economic downturn does not impacted ticket sales for shows at the 58th Wexford Festival Opera.
Crowds in Wexford for the festival are confounding the economic slowdown with the main performances fully booked out.
As well as being impressed with the opera house, people love coming to Wexford.
Due to the current economic climate, organisers shortened the festival from 18 to 12 days but many events are now sold out.
Opera fans Breda and Aideen O'Shea say there is a great buzz around the town. Opera singer Paula Murphy says the festival is unique and a world class event.
The organisers are call on the government not to cut funding for the arts in the forthcoming budget. David McLoughlin, Chief Executive of Wexford Festival Opera, says that the event generates so much for the local economy providing employment and attracting visitors to the town.
Ticket prices are very competitive and in some cases, three tenors are still available for thirty euro.
