The people of Cork give their views on the Cork Film Festival and its impact on the city.

Stars of the silver screen have arrived, and Cork is buzzing with the Savoy cinema booked out for the ninth Cork Film Festival.

As reporter Donncha Ó Dúlaing discovers, the people of Cork are happy to give their opinions on the festival. For one lady, its benefits are clear,

It will bring the visitors, and puts Cork on the map.

A taxi driver says this is a week when he is busy, but this feeling is not shared by all, with another interviewee declaring that,

I don’t this this film festival is any good for business.

Another woman has no time whatsoever for the festival,

Measaim nach bhfuil cultúr le fáil ann, agus gur airgead amú é.

A first time attendee has been to see many films, and has had a positive experience of the festival.

I felt it most interesting, and enjoyed it very much.

These interviews were recorded during the 1964 Cork Film Festival for 'A Munster Journal’. The reporter is Donncha Ó Dúlaing.

A weekly digest of events and personalities ‘Munster Journal’ was broadcast from the RTÉ Radio studios in Cork.
