Cork is the movie capital of Ireland as it is host to an international festival.
The public turned out in force in the hope of catching a glimpse of some of the stars attending the opening of the Cork Film Festival. German actress Ingeberg Schoner and British actor Ronald Shiner entertained the crowd from the red carpet.
Minister for Justice Charles Haughey and Senator Gus Healy performed the official duties.
