To the delight of many, heavy fog on the east coast of Ireland is followed by a day of glorious sunshine.

Fog on the east coast of Ireland affects north Dublin and Kilkenny most of all. Visibility is difficult and motorists and pedestrians carefully navigate their way through a dense fog. Drivers proceed cautiously along roads with car headlights on.

When the fog finally clears, the warmth of the sun belies the fact that it is autumn. Many people head to the coast making the most of the unseasonally fine weather. Several of them take the opportunity to swim in the sea.
