Five generations gather in Murroe, County Limerick to help Katie Ryan celebrate her 100th birthday.

Limerick lady Katie Ryan (née Hickey) was born in 1884 in a Land League hut at Madaboy in Murroe. A century later five generations of Hickeys and Keyes, Walshs, Woods, Conways, McElligotts and Hartigans gather on the front lawn of Milbank House to help her celebrate her special birthday.

Katie Ryan comes from a family known for longevity, she reads the paper every day, votes at every election and still does some babysitting.

Over the years she has seen many changes, the most striking,

I see women and they would hardly wash a cup for you, they have to get dish washers.

Katie Ryan cannot say how long she will keep going but is more than happy to take each day as it comes.
