Life after death is the basis of Christian belief but what do people on the street think about eternal life?

Thoughts on the possibility of life after death offered by members of the public.

One man believes in life after death but has no definite idea of what it will be like. Another young man describes it as a state of being for the soul rather than a place as such. A woman says she likes to believe there is life after death but her friend is not so sure.

Your soul is still there, like you know, up in heaven but I don't think you come back or anything like that or you can talk to the dead.

Another man says he does not believe in life after death and that when you die, you die.

'Where Do We Stand? Who Do You Say That I Am' was broadcast on 15 April 1979. The presenter is Morgan O’Sullivan.

‘Where Do We Stand?’ is a five part series examining the challenges of handing on the Christian faith in Ireland. The series is produced by Fr Billy FitzGerald, Head of Religious Programmes at RTÉ. Each episode considers a different aspect of traditional Christian faith; the existence of God, the basis of morality, forgiveness and redemption, prayer and Jesus the risen Christ. During each episode, people on the street give their opinions on traditional Christian principles. ‘Are You Saved?’ is the third programme in the series.
