Stars come out in Dublin for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards and a performance from Lionel Richie.

The Meteor Irish Music Awards are the Irish music industry's biggest night out. The fourth Meteor Irish Music Awards take place at the Point Theatre in Dublin.

Among the famous faces on the red carpet are the presenters on the night George McMahon, Kerry McFadden and Miss World Rosanna Davison. Performing at the ceremony are all girl group Sugarbabes and Westlife.

The Frames are due to perform and collect the award for best Irish band. Frontman Glen Hansard is glad to be attending the ceremony because it makes his mother happy plus,

If it makes our following our people who like us happier to see us win something, then I’m really happy to do it.

Also performing on the night are The Corrs whose drummer Caroline Corr is looking forward to playing live again. American singer Lionel Richie will showcase his new single 'Just for You'.

A total of 18 awards are handed out during the ceremony. For the fourth time in a row, Westlife are named best Irish pop act. There is an industry award for RTÉ radio presenter Dave Fanning. The humanitarian award and a cheque for €1000 for her work with the homeless goes to Sister Stanislaus Kennedy also known as Sister Stan. The Dubliners bring the night to a close after they are presented with a lifetime achievement award.
