Taoiseach Seán Lemass receives a warm welcome to the White House from President John F Kennedy.
The Taoiseach Seán Lemass, accompanied by his wife Kathleen is on a ten day visit to the United States. Prior to arriving in Washington Seán Lemass met with business leaders in Chicago, and the remainder of his schedule in the US included similar meetings in New York and Boston.
At the White House President Kennedy and his sister Jean Kennedy Smith, welcome the Taoiseach and his group. A nineteen gun salute is fired during Amhrán na bhFiann, and the Taoiseach inspects a guard of honour.
