The first public playground and park has opened in Sligo town.
The young people of Sligo and their families now have their own dedicated area for play and sport.
The Mitchell Curley Park is named after two local sporting heroes, Gerry Mitchell of Sligo Rovers and former councillor and athletics administrator Pat Curley. The park at Kevinsfort boasts a basketball court, two playing pitches, a large selection of play equipment and almost two kilometres of walking trails.
Children also enjoyed bouncy castles and music at the opening ceremony, which was performed by the Mayor of Sligo Tommie Cummins. One parent present is very pleased,
Fantastic facility altogether, great for the area.
According to the young experts, the Mitchell Curley Park is already a success,
We have great fun here every day.
You can meet your friends and play...you can go during school hours.
There should be more parks like this in Sligo.
