The newly formed Munster Society of Magicians give an inaugural performance.

Fifteen part-time magicians attended the first meeting of the Munster Society of Magicians. They elected a four man committee which includes Pat Clancy from Limerick, Jim Leahy from Tipperary, Oliver Honan from Limerick and Pat O'Sullvian who goes under the name The Great Silvano. The first president of the Munster Society is Dominican fresco painter, Fr Aengus Buckley who is also known for his magic skills. The first Chairman is Eamonn O'Connor and the Secreatry is businessman Vincent Finucane.

Tom Heffernan from Mallow, County Cork gives a display of his virtuosity at the first meeting of the society at the Shannon Arms Hotel in Limerick. He is also the treasurer of the group presumably under the assumption that,

What he can do with a silk handkerchief, he may be able to do with a pound note.

Another member Richard Fox from Freshford in County Kilkenny demonstrates his skills by piercing a balloon with a knitting needle without bursting it.

The Great Silvano makes a chandelier appear from under a handkerchief.

The Munster Society of Magicians is the only group of its kind outside Dublin and hopes to meet in Limerick twice a month.
