Situated on Fownes Court, Commercial Buildings in Dame Street, Dublin was founded in 1799. The building houses one of the city's biggest office blocks and includes the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the Ouzel Galley Lounge.

Shareholders in the company that owns Commercial Buildings are being asked if they will sell their shares to an interested party making a takeover bid of 50/- per £1 share of the firm's £20,000 ordinary share capital.

In this RTÉ News report people can be seen using the pedestrian shortcut through the building and courtyard to Cope Street. To facilitate the construction of the Central Bank, Commercial Buildings were demolished and a reproduction erected perpendicular to the original.
