In front of a live audience at the Cork Opera House, the Peoria Jazzband perform ‘Flat Foot Floogie’ a 1938 jazz song written by Slim Gaillard, Slam Stewart, and Bud Green. It was originally performed by Slim Gaillard, Slam Stewart as Slim and Slam.
The Peoria Jazzband was formed in 1960. Peoria is a city in Illinois, not known for jazz music. However the band’s name comes from the song ‘I wish't I was in Peoria’.
The Peoria Jazzband’s repertoire includes New Orleans jazz, Dixieland swing and standard jazz tunes. The band is led by banjo player Sture Svarén and Rosemarie Simonsen is lead vocalist.
