Trawlers bring a relief crew and supplies for the Tuskar Rock lighthouse and the Coningbeg lightship.

On 29 June 1971, 54 crew members were suspended from duty for refusing to take the Irish Lights vessels Ierne and Atlanta to sea. The following day the Atlanta was due to leave Dublin for Rosslare Harbour to pick up relief crew and supplies for the Tuskar Rock lighthouse and Coningbeg lightship, off the south east coast of Ireland.

The Commissioners of Irish Lights chartered trawlers from Rosslare Harbour and Kilmore Quay, to carry out the reliefs off the Wexford coast.

This RTÉ News footage shows the relief trawler bound for Tuskar Rock lighthouse. Its cargo includes bananas, biscuits, milk and holy water. The Tuskar Rock lightkeepers await the vessel's arrival.
