Launch of a brochure to help attract tourists to the town of Mallow in County Cork.
It is hoped that promoting Mallow as a tourist destination will lead to more spin-off employment in the services sector.
An unemployed person in the town was hired by Mallow Urban Council to research, plan and design a promotional brochure. They were also tasked with raising the funds to produce the publication. Fourteen thousand brochures were printed. The launch of the brochure took place at Mallow Castle, which fittingly features on the cover. The brochure will be circulated widely throughout Ireland and abroad. The Mallow Urban Council say the brochure is just the first step in promoting the town.

The launch was carried out by Minister for State with responsibility for tourism Michael Moynihan. At the event, he said,
There is no town I would say in Ireland that is better centred or has the environment that Mallow has to promote.
