Thieves take Jake a dog used in the detection of drug trafficking from his kennel in Rosslare.
A Golden Labrador Jake has been largely responsible for sniffing out over nine million pounds worth of drugs over the past five years.
Gardaí in Wexford who are investigating the snatch believe that the thieves knew exactly what kind of dog they were stealing. The thieves cut through a fence and smashed the lock on the kennel door. Gardaí say that there were a number of suspects in the area at the time.
Jake is one of five dogs used by Customs and Excise Officers in the detection of drug trafficking.
A spokesman said that it was impossible to put a value on Jake.
