L'Escargot is the star attraction among the craft stalls, art and chair-o-planes at the Spring Fair in Kilcullen.
The two day Spring Fair held at the Leinster Co-Op Mart has been organised by Kilcullen Community Council, the Society of St Vincent de Paul and the New Schools Fund Committee. All money raised will go to local charities.
Guest of honour at the fair's opening ceremony is Aintree Grand National winner L’Escargot. Other things for people to enjoy include a display by the Falconry Club of Ireland, a gymkhana, and a motor show. There are stands showing arts and crafts, art and flower arranging.
Local businesses and clubs also have stands, and those in attendance tomorrow will be able to watch a parachute jump performed by the Irish Parachute Club.
The recent petrol strike meant that the fair’s date had to be pushed back by a few weeks. Many of the events displays, the fairground amusements and horses for the gymkhana could not be transported due to lack of fuel.
