The Peace Garden, another project commemorating Dublin's millennium year opens at Christchurch Place.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Ben Briscoe performed the official opening of the Peace Garden opposite Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. Musical accompaniment at the event was provided by the boys from the choir of Saint Patrick's Cathedral.
The Peace Garden was built by Dublin Corporation as part of a drive to regenerate the inner city and it received £53,000 in private sponsorship for the project. The Corporation is seeking further sponsorship for similar schemes.
Local people from the nearby Iveagh Trust Buildings gave their reaction to the latest addition to their area.
It’s gorgeous. The one in Dame Street is lovely as well.
The Peace Garden is another permanent addition to the Dublin city's attractions completed in the millennium year and a local woman is impressed with the improvements Dublin Corporation is making to the city.
