The west Cork village of Union Hall is the location for David Puttnam's latest movie 'War of the Buttons'.

Line producer David Higgins explains the plot of the film 'War of the Buttons' from a script by Colin Welland. Set in Ireland, it tells the story of two villages separated by a bridge and the rivalry between the young lads of the village which has been going on for generations.

Most of the cast are Irish and over the coming weeks over two thousand extras will be used in the making of the film.

The arrival of the film crew is a welcome boost for the Skibbereen area. Local man Denis Shanahan explains that all hotel and guest house accommodation in the area is booked out for the next three months.

The young stars of the film are Eveanna Ryan from Ballinasloe and Greg Fitzgerald from Cork.
