'A Travellers Ireland' an exhibition of photographs opens at Filmbase in Dublin.
One of the events in Travellers Focus Week is the photography exhibition 'A Travellers Ireland'. There is often a difficult relationship between Travellers and the settled community. This exhibition hopes to convey the reality of Traveller lives. As Ronnie Fay, Director of Pavee Point explains,
Often the only time settled people come across travellers is in a very negative context, reporting anti-social behaviour or criminal behaviour and the ordinary everyday lives of travellers are often hidden and not very visible.
The photographers featured in the exhibition are from Ireland, Europe and the US. Some photographs are taken by Travellers themselves.
