Tyrone beat Galway to reach the All Ireland Football Final and keep alive the possibility of an Ulster team taking the title for the fifth year in a row.

Galway provided the Ulster champions with stiff opposition in this All Ireland Football Semi Final. Galway were 0-05 to 0-02 ahead when Tyrone's Peter Canavan scored what proved to be the only goal of the game. Galway were not rattled though and by half time they had regained the lead by a two point margin.

After the restart Tyrone's Peter Canavan came into his own and within two minutes of the resumption of play had the sides level again. Galway fought back to lead by two points once more but then Tyrone scored five unanswered points. Galway continued to create chances but had too many wides. The Ulster men held on to reach the All Ireland Final for only Tyrone's second time.

The final score was Tyrone 1-13 Galway 0-13.
