The millennium open day at the singer's home in Kincasslagh, Co. Donegal is to be the last.
Daniel O'Donnell fans arrived in their droves on 3 August 2000 for what had become an annual event, tea with their idol. But the man itself felt it had got out of hand.
I think it's too hard to control, yeah, so I think this is the last open day we're going to have. It's getting too big, so I think it's best, rather than have a few people, you know, unhappy, it's best not to have them. But we enjoy them.
He began the day by singing a song in honour of the contestants from the local Mary From Dungloe Festival, who were competing with each other to be crowned Mary. Then it was time for tea with the fans.
All souvenir sales from the tea party went to the Romanian Challenge Appeal.
