Lightning strikes 1,000 year old round tower in Cashel.
The 1,000 year-old round tower, on the Rock of Cashel in Co. Tipperary, was damaged by lightning during a brief but strong storm. The tower which stands 91.5 feet high dates back to the 10th century. Lightning hit the tower creating a hole approximately 20 feet high and 4 feet wide.
The film shows the damaged tower and includes an interview with Percy Le Clare, National Monuments Inspector, who comments on the extent of the damage.
