Irish navy vessel LÉ Niamh has docked in the port of Pozzallo in Sicily with 329 people on board.

Yesterday, the crew rescued the people from three migrant boats off the coast of Libya.

The 317 men, 11 women and one child on board the vessel received water, food and medical assistance.

They had been rescued 58km north of Tripoli.

LÉ Niamh has now rescued over 3,000 people since commencing operations in the Mediterranean.
