Gardaí have recovered another body part in an investigation that has been taking place since last Friday in Clonee, Co Meath.

The find is in addition to the partial human remains discovered in a black plastic bag in a stream in the townland of Mayne yesterday.

An arm was recovered in an adjacent field on Friday.

Fingerprint impressions obtained from the arm led to the remains been identified as those of convicted drug dealer Christy Gaffney, who was reported missing at the beginning of last month.

Last night a post mortem examination was carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabber, but its understood no cause of death has been established.

Gardaí are in no doubt however that 37-year-old Gaffney, from Blanchardstown in Dublin died violently and a murder inquiry is under way.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and is currently working with the family of the deceased.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity recently in the Kilbride/The Mayne area.

The area is close to the Porterstown Road in Clonee.

Gardaí say all information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
