The PSNI have renewed their appeal to the public for help in tracing a couple from Northern Ireland who took their daughter from state care and fled to Scotland with the baby.
Police say the parents would not be able to look after the infant.
Baby Sophie Anderson, who had been with foster parents since she was born, was collected by her mother Lucy at a social services office in Banbridge, Co Down, yesterday.
They took a taxi to Belfast and were next spotted boarding a ferry for Stranraer in Scotland.
The baby's father, Stuart Creaney, had taken an earlier sailing to Scotland.
The PSNI say they remain seriously concerned for 17-month-old Sophie because they do not believe her mother and father have the parenting skills needed to look after her.
They are appealing to the couple to return the baby to her carers or contact the social services or close family.
