Up to 300 anti-war protestors have marched to Shannon Airport to hold a rally in protest at the use of the airport for the landing and re-fueling of US military aircraft.

The protest was organised by a group calling itself the Grassroots Network, made up of loosely associated political and community groups.

The group had marched to the airport from the centre of Shannon.

There was tight security for the duration of the protest.

No incidents were reported. Last October, ten people were arrested during a demonstration after the airport's perimeter fence was damaged.
