Let's make a cloud in a bottle

What do we know about clouds? When warm air rises into the sky from earth, its pressure is reduced. This is why the higher away you go from earth the lower the air pressure.

Hub Lab - Red Cabbage Indicator

Scientists use a scale called the pH scale to measure how acidic or basic something is. The scale runs from 0 to 14. Where 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most basic. Around the middle we have neutral liquids, like water!

Hub Lab - Nappy Knowledge!

Nappies contain a very special chemical called Sodium Polyacrylate. This chemical soaks up liquids like water or urine (wee!) and changes from a powder to a jelly to a solid and can be changed back again.

Do you ever notice that the air above a radiator is hot while the air below it is cold? This is because hot air rises! Hot air is less dense than cold air, meaning it will tend to go upwards, while the colder, denser air goes down.

Beautiful Bernouilli: Keeping all the balls in the air

It starts off small and simple with a balloon and hairdryer and then moves on to suspending a ping pong ball in the airflow. We'll then weight the balloon with a coin and get it to do the same.
