In a broadcast for St Patrick's Day Éamon de Valera talks about the new constitution and discussions over trade with Britain.
Taoiseach Éamon de Valera describes the constitution which had been ratified by a plebiscite held the same day as the election of a Fianna Fáil government.
The outstanding event of the year was the adoption by the people of a constitution based upon their own Christian conception of life.
The second matter the Taoiseach addresses is the opening of negotiations with the British government on the matters of trade tariffs, partition and the occupation of some Irish ports by British forces.
