Donal McCann talks about acting and the toll 'Faith Healer' took on him.

Two stalwarts of the Abbey Theatre from the 1960s onwards were the actor Donal McCann and playwright Brian Friel. McCann appeared in several of Friel's plays, and is particularly noted for his portrayal of the travelling faith healer Frank in 'Faith Healer', which he first played in the Abbey's 1980 production. He talks about the toll this role took on him in this interview from 'Dialogue'.

McCann died in 1999 at the age of 56. The most recent Brian Friel play at the Abbey was 'Aristocrats', a 2014 production of the play that premiered at the theatre in 1979.
