Seamus Heaney donates his literary archive to the National Library of Ireland.
In 2011 Heaney donated his literary archive to the National Library of Ireland.
He put his collection of drafts, manuscripts, and loose-leaf poems into 12 boxes and drove them to the back door of the library. In this RTÉ News report, Heaney says it is a "privilege and honour" to be joining the great writers of the past and present.
Director fo the National Library of Ireland Fiona Ross says the collection traces his whole history and is a great gift to the nation.
