Scenes of destruction after the bombing of Dublin city centre in 1974 filmed by John Cruise.
On the 17 May 1974 a series of car bombs exploded in Dublin and Monaghan killing 33 people and injuring almost 300 others. In one of the worst terrorist attacks of 'the troubles' three bombs in Dublin exploded within short intervals of each other at different city centre locations.
John Cruise filmed this short piece showing the scenes of destruction Parnell Street and Talbot Street, Dublin.

As a young man John Cruise was a keen photographer and began to make 8 mm films after an uncle gave him a Super 8 Sanyo camera. John Cruise went on to work in advertising. After learning the trade he was appointed agency TV producer in Arks advertising, Dublin a position he held for over 20 years. |
