Less than a week to go before President Kennedy arrives in Ireland and preparations are well and truly underway.

Preparations underway around the country for the visit of President Kennedy.

This report shows the US Ambassador, Matthew McCloskey, the Minister for Justice, Charles Haughey and Garda Commissioner Costigan as they arrive by helicopter at Collins Barracks in Cork.

In New Ross, Co. Wexford, shop fronts are cleaned and painted, and paving stones are laid.
