Tea with President Kennedy at his ancestral farm in Dunganstown, Co. Wexford.

This extract shows the tea party in full swing at President Kennedy’s ancestral farm in Dunganstown, Co. Wexford. He and his sisters Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Jean Kennedy Smith chat and joke with their Irish relatives and take tea and salmon sandwiches on home-made bread.

The president cuts a slice of cake, which he ends up giving to Mary Ryan, his second cousin once-removed who now lives on the farm. He thanks her and her friends for doing all the cooking and offers a toast, "a cup of tea to all the Kennedys who went and all the Kennedys who stayed".
