Garda ballistics experts were today examining components of home-made mortars found after detectives chased a car across parts of Meath and Kildare. At the same time armed detectives continued their search for a man who abandoned the car and took to the fields. They believe the Irish Republican Army (IRA) were preparing for a mortar attack on security forces in the North.
